Crime prevention measures

Juvenile Reaffirmation

The program stands as the strongest juvenile crime prevention initiative in Northeast Pennsylvania, boasting an impressive 96% non-recidivism rate. It specifically targets young boys aged 13 to 17, whether they are currently incarcerated or not, providing them with the support and resources needed to avoid reoffending. The program's primary focus is in Lackawanna County, where it has established strong ties with county judges, probation officers, and local criminal attorneys. This collaborative effort ensures that the young participants receive comprehensive guidance and rehabilitation, significantly contributing to the program's success in preventing future crimes and fostering positive outcomes for these at-risk youths.

Support groups

Womens support group

The womens support group was originally started as a remedy for mothers whose sons were incarcerated. Currently is has morphed into a general support group for women.

environmental stewardship

Strong advocates of the environment

NEPAPAC, as a member of the Environmental Justice Advisory Board (EJAB) for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), plays a crucial role in advising the Secretary on policies and actions to support environmental justice. The board ensures fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, particularly those from low-income and minority communities, in the development and enforcement of environmental policies2. By participating in the EJAB, NEPAPAC helps address environmental concerns and advocates for the protection of vulnerable communities from disproportionate environmental burdens

Black kids code SCHEMA program

Nepapac and education

NEPAPAC offers the only summer science education program for students of color in Northeast Pennsylvania. The program, initially focused on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), has now evolved into SCHEMA, incorporating Science, Conservation, Health, Engineering, Math, and Art. This evolution reflects NEPAPAC's commitment to providing a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience that addresses diverse fields and promotes holistic learning.
